In the clinic and real world, thousands of people who stutter (PWS) have successfully improved their fluency using this device. With a little training and practice, this comparatively inexpensive DAF Controller can help provide more fluent speech. DAF takes the spoken signal of the user and echoes it back with a slight delay. Mimicking the choral effect, the user receives his/her own speech signal through a single earpiece or through binaural headphones. This effect tricks the brain and provides greater fluency. In many cases, secondary behaviors associated with stuttering are vastly reduced.  The device automatically shifts the frequency upward providing limited frequency-altered feedback (FAF).

While there is no cure for stuttering at this time, we have successfully used the device in and out of our clinic to help people who stutter. The device can also be used to help cluttering or those with festination of speech observed in Parkinson patients.

The ISP DAF Controller produces clean, crisp sound that is adjustable in its delay (measured in milliseconds) and volume. At only 4.3 ounces, the device is compact and lightweight using a single 9-volt battery or a convenient AC wall adapter. Easily slips in a pocket or clips to your  pants or belt. Place it on a desk and use the convenient AC plug-in if you wish. The ISP DAF Controller is effective for children and adults, early onset stuttering, and acquired stuttering. The device is not recommended for normally disfluent speech observed in very young children.

We recommend training that teaches the use of the device, non-habituation strategies, and other valuable therapeutic techniques to increase fluency. It is an excellent prosthetic/training tool used in conjunction with your Speech-Language Pathologist. Initial training typically begins with the binaural headset where most people note a stark improvement in fluency; training then leads to use of the single ear phone. The TruTone Artificial Larynx is unique in that it offers dynamic variable pitch control that allows the user to vary his or her pitch. This neck-type device enables the user to alter inflection for more realistic voicing. This is especially useful for questions, exclamations, and singing. Small pressure using the thumb raises and lowers the pitch. The device can be tuned to best suit a man or women’s voice. The TruTone is powerful using a single, readily available 9-volt battery. With adjustable volume you can whisper or shout. Using space-age materials this precision instrument is tough, reliable, and sturdy. In fact, the TruTone is constructed out of the same material as bullet-proof glass. The SolaTone Artificial Larynx is a monotone, neck-type device that excels in sound production and power. Simple and effective voicing is accomplished using a single button and 9-volt circuitry. The SolaTone fits in the palm of the hand and is sturdy and non-obtrusive. The pitch and volume can be static adjusted to best suit a male or female voice.  The device is easy to use and can also be used with children. One-year limited warranty. Device comes with a 9-volt battery and a manual in English and Spanish.

The Servox Digital Artificial Larynx uses digital electronics to generate voicing.  The instrument is housed in a titanium sleeve. Using a rocking motion with the thumb, the user can inflect using two different tones. Fully adjustable, both buttons can be tuned at different pitches beyond or below an octave, or in volume. In fact, one button can be adjusted to produce a whisper mode. The Servox  Digital uses a barrel-type 7.2 volt battery and a convenient charger that allows the user to charge the battery while it’s inside the device. An added feature allows the user to charge an extra battery at the same time. The automatic charger offers indicator lights that announce the approximate charge on the battery and if the battery is in the reverse position. The head can be professionally adjusted to more readily penetrate thickened neck tissue. Can also be used with an intraoral adaptor for voicing directly in the mouth. HOW TO SEND US YOUR INSTRUMENT
You may send us your device and request an estimate before repairs are made. Please package your device safely for its journey and include a note explaining the problems that you are encountering. Include your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address. We recommend that you insure and track the device through your carrier. If you include your batteries and charger we will check those components too. Batteries that are unusable or leaking will be discarded. If you wish, you may send your instrument along with your credit card number (please include the expiration date and security code number) for speedy repairs and return to you.

Intraoral Adapters fit onto the head of a neck-type artificial larynx and transform it into an oral-type device. Intraoral adapters deliver the speech signal directly into the mouth by way of a tube, and not through the neck. With a tube placed just inside the lips the user moves his/her tongue, lips, and jaw to form the sounds of speech. In most situations it is preferable to use a neck device on the neck. When an intraoral adapter is needed, it is typically temporary. Some situations where the intraoral adapter is useful include: right after surgery; ventilator use; during radiation treatment; presence of thickened scar tissue on the neck; no sweet spot on the neck can be found. We have an assortment of adapters and are happy to help you select the best one for your situation and device. Our basic kit includes one adapter, and five oral tubes.
